Bogdan is two month old today!
Bogdan is now sleeping better during the night. We go to bed at around 10PM and get up at 6AM. And during these 8 hours he wakes up 3-4 times to nurse and he falls back asleep fairly soon after. He sleeps half-night with us, half-night in his crib. But now it’s a challenge during the day. The thing is… he loves to be held. Like any other newborn I guess. I don’t mind that, I love cuddling with him. And while he’s sleeping in my arms I am able to do some work on the computer. But only if he sleeps!!! Most of the time he is colicky or gassy, so even being held he is very nervous, he wants comfort and that equals to breast. So he nurses, then he needs to burp which he doesn’t like and he’s doing all he can to avoid this which is not helpful. And then I think maybe he is better down in his bouncer. He stays there for 2 min but then he is not happy again. So I pick him up and he smells my milk so he wants to nurse again not even realizing he is already full. So it’s a vicious cycle. Days like this are tough. The only thing that really helps is to take him on a car ride. So I take him with me everywhere I go.
Ivan is less jealous. He is a loving and caring big brother. If Bogdan in his bouncer and starts crying, Ivan tries to calm him down: he puts his head on Bogdan’s tommy, turns on the music and the vibration on the bouncer and if it doesn’t help he tried to pick him up (which he is not yet able to do). Ivan he is very excited about his little brother. When he comes back from the daycare, he goes straight to see his brother.
At the beginning it was a whole different story: Ivan was jealous, he was trying to hit his brother, he was acting out, he was doing all kinds of crazy things to catch our attention. Sometimes he would just start screaming for no reason.
With two kids now life is 10 times more difficult, more hectic, more unpredictable. At the same time it’s also more fun, more rewarding and definitely worth waking up every morning.
Since Bogdan is sleeping a little better at night, I finally feel less tired as before, when I wasn’t even able to drive a car. (Once I nearly had 2 accidents in one day just because lack of concentration). I’ve been swimming 2-3 times a week. So I’m ALMOST back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Almost actually means that I need to gain a couple of kilos to get back to what I was before getting pregnant. I started school in September. I’ve had some exciting photography contracts. My mom is here for one more week. Then my husband is going on a paternity leave. We are planning a vacation to Cuba at the end of October. And my boys are the best ones in the world. Although, I am exhausted and worn out.
